Beer drinking baseball fans at Boston’s Fenway Park (I think there may be a few of those there) will be waiting a considerably shorter amount of time on line for their brews this summer, due to a new draft beer system making it’s debut at the park this spring. Called “Bottoms Up Draft Beer Dispensing System” and manufactured by Grinon Industries (video here) the Bottoms Up system fills its own proprietary glasses from the bottom, eliminating foamy heads. It looks like magic to me.
It appears that the secret to that magic is a magnetic disk at the bottom, which is also believe-it-or-not both FDA-approved and a new place for advertising messages. My immediate thoughts: Does it leak? How much more will they need to charge per beer? Do you bring it back with you each time for a fill-up? How can I get this system at home?
Depending on the answers to some of those questions, I will stick my neck out and say this could be a hugely successful venture. I’m looking forward to seeing it in action on a warm summer evening at New York’s Citi Field.
