German soap maker, Soap & Glory, is saying “thank you” to its consumers with a two-ton sculpture of a gigantic lady in Lake Alster. “We’ve been looking for a way to say, ‘Thank you!’ to everyone for embracing our products, and making us a real success there,” says company founder Marcia Kilgore. “At Soap & Glory, we consider it our calling to bring more beauty to the world, and have fun doing it.”
Meeting mixed reviews with some consumers appreciating the sculpture, especially local paddle boat vendors who are profiting from the lake’s addition, to the Mayor who believes the sculpture is “sullying” the lake.
The intent was to beautify the lake in keeping with the brand as a beauty product but this larger than life billboard may have just taken a gigantic step too far for the German locals. In any case, it is certainly making a splash.
