McDonald’s in Canada really does have me saying, “I’m lovin’ it!” Two recent creative executions make me want to tip my hat to them — really, really using every sense to bring their point home. One transit ad campaign supported their coffee business. It involved simple subway posters promoting a free coffee offer… but with the addition of a little added element— “planted” people sleeping right under the ads that made the copy in the ads positively come to life! (Can’t you just hear people laughing at how ironic it is that the person is sleeping beneath the ad, of course not realizing it is staged. Brilliant.)
Then, at the opposite end of the clock, they have created another billboard campaign using special reflective tape only visible at night when illuminated by a car’s headlights! The message – Open All Night – again, could not be missed.
These are both stellar examples of a GWH W.T.F.* (Winner, Toss-Up or Flop) Award WINNER! Creativity + simplicity win again!
