Here is a great way to recycle those old cell phones and other electronic portable devices instead of using them as paperweights or cluttering up your desk drawers. Instead of ending up in a landfill, why not get some cash for your trash?
Based in San Diego, Calif., ecoATM is an automated self-serve kiosk system that uses patented, advanced machine vision, electronic diagnostics, and artificial intelligence to evaluate and buy back used electronics directly from consumers for cash or store credit. With 300 ecoATMs across the country already, the company predicts that it will grow to 1,000 by the end of the year. 60 percent of the devices reclaimed by the machines are used for parts or refurbished and resold. Forty percent have their precious metals melted down to be used in other devices.
Environmentally friendly and rewarding, ecoATMS is a novel idea that is coming to a mall near you.
