Trending Vending

As more and more food brands get in on the exploding 3D printing trend, Nabisco, too, joined the band wagon in a pretty impressive way at the recent SXSW Music, Film and Interactive Conference in Austin, where their Trending/ Vending Machine from Oreo was debuted.

The one-of-a-kind vending machine let festival attendees select from a variety of frosting and cookie flavor choices before magically “printing” the customized Oreo treats in front of their eyes.

The rep for parent Mondelez summed it up this way: “It’s not so much just about the technology…It’s really about how do you begin to understand what consumers want. And deliver those customized kinds of experiences.”

Whether or not this new 3D printing craze will have long term staying power, Nabisco hopped on while the press was still running — keeping folks engaged in their iconic product in a very current and entertaining way. Can’t wait to see where this goes next!
